I collected the car from the Midlands and drove the hundred plus miles to Wetherby without any problems. In addition to this I have driven maybe another 80 or so miles to and from the garage and MOT station.For the final production run, the last few thousand XJ`s came with a revised 4.0L engine with increased power and torque compared to the previous incarnation. This newer engine also benefits from lower emissions. An easy way to spot these cars is by looking at the roof rails, they only run for half the length of the roof. The interior is in good condition. It has clearly not been owned by a smoker and as such is free from any unpleasant smells and has no burn marks. The interior fabric is in good condition with no tears or stains but the car will need a once over to bring back to `showroom` condition.The radio works as it should including powering the electric aerial. The car also has an aftermarket Clarion CD changer fitted beneath the rear seat, with the controls for this mounted just above the heater dials.The A/C works however may need a refrigerant top up. The air is cooled and the compressor can be heard (and seen) to click in and out, however, I have an almost identical Jeep as my own car and the A/C in that is so cold that if the vents are so angled, it actually makes my fingers numb! The body work is in lovely order for a car of this age and the paintwork appears to be all original. There are a few areas of damage that need pointing out. Firstly there is a scratch that runs along both the drivers side front and rear doors and into the rear wing. It looks to have been `professionally improved` at some point by carefully loading the scratch with the correct colour of paint before being polished flat. It was impossible to photograph yesterday but I will give it another go ( maybe using artificial light) if anyone is really concerned. The radiator grill insert is damaged. The outer most left hand slat is cracked and has a couple of slats missing. This is cosmetic damage and confined to the plastic grill, the radiators directly behind are NOT damaged in any way. The N/S/f bumper corner has a graze but this has been carefully touched in so it is not something you really spot unless pointed out. The wheels (16 inch `Icon` alloys found on the Orvis) are all in PERFECT condition with absolutely NO signs of the usual blistering. The tyres are all matching and look to be less than half worn. I have the owners handbook/operating manual, the service book, the V5 certificate and the current and one previous MOT. I have both keys and 2 remote key fobs.The car is currently untaxed, however given a little notice I can arrange for the car to be taxed for the winning bidder.So to recap, a really nice useable example of an increasingly hard to find late model XJ in what many consider to be the best colour Jeep ever offered.Check back for updates. | I will happily disclose the reserve to anyone who calls and is genuinely interested in buying the car. the hard top on at the moment i also have the soft top for it too that will come with her. the roll cage has the zip on bar pads, its has a kenwood cd player. it has a chrome A bar on the front and chrome side steps... she looks amazing with the roof and doors off and really turns heads...it has had new disc pads and calipers on the front and an exhaust and wheels were a little tatty so iv had them refurbished there look great now. M.O.T until May 2011 and 6 month tax, I have prob missed loads of details off but you have questions please ask. been on UK plates for 2 years and ready now for someone to enjoy either over here or maybe Spain, France Etc... The Jeep drives really well, body work is in very good condition with no rust anywhere, paint work is good, drivers door may need a bit of a tidy but apart from that it`s very good. Wheels could do with a bit of a paint due to peeling paint, but the tyres are recent and chunky A/T`s. Interior is good with black carpets, drivers seat could do with recovering but is still all there and still very comfy to drive. I have driven this Jeep around and covered maybe 300 miles in the last couple of weeks and it seems to run and drive great with not faults, 4WD works fine. Jeep comes with a black hard top (no soft top) rear side windows have been tinted to a good standard. The Jeep has a MOT till June 4th 2011 but the tax has just run out, I can re-tax at buyers expence if required for collection. stop gap. This proved very useful and when we had our `mini ice age` this Jeep was a god send! I will describe the vehicle as accurately as I can, but bear in mind that its a 12 year old car with circa 135K on the clock. Good Points: Well, the Jeep starts first time in any weather and is reliable enough to do 50 mile round trips without any issues. It doesnt burn oil and the engine pulls nice and strong, even on LPG. The interior is in good condition with no visible rips or tears in the black leather upholstery and all electrical gadgets like the memory seats and the heated seats etc all seem to work just fine. All tyres are good with plenty of tread on them. A few months ago I carried out an oil and filter change, air filter change and neew spark plug with distributor cap and HT lead change. Running on LPG means that every litre you put in, it only cost circa 60p / litre versus £1.15 or so for petrol. For a car that returns 15-20mpg then its like paying to run a car that gives 30-40mpg - which is great. As this car was registered prior to 2001 the 12 months road tax = £205. Poor parts: The car has a shudder that is only noticable from a hard acceleration from a standing start. A mechanic had a look at it and said he thought it was either the transmission bands or the torque converter. Based on this I bought a second hand gearbox complete with torque converter. The gearbox is still waiting to be fitted as I haven`t got around to it, as the shudder doesnt bother me that much. The gearbox is included in the sale, so if you win this car, you may want to get this fitted. There are a couple of scuffs and minor dints around the car, but in my opinion nothing too much to bother about given the price and age of the car. The worst rust is over the drivers wheel arch and can be seen in one of the pictures. Underneath, there are a few oil leaks here and there, but again, nothing thats caused me concern. (Since owning the Jeep Ive only ever topped the engine oil off with about a 1/2 pint of oil and the steering fluid with even less so). Other minor niggles I can think of are: The sunroof seal requires replacing, the aircon needs a new pipe fitting (that I have and will pass onto the winner, again Ive not been too fussed to get around to fitting) then it will need a recharge and the tracking could do with being done. Thats really about it. I would recommend as a minimum that you ask any questions if you intend to seriously buy and why not have a look first. Cash on collection please, cheque is fine but will need to be cleared before the car goes. Paypal not good as fees too high, but email me if thats only method you can use (BEFORE bidding). It`s got electric everything - windows, seats, mirrors, central locking, child locks, immobiliser, high quality Medion Radio/CD player and Sony multi CD changer (in the back), compass, thermometer, air conditioning, heater, power assisted steering, cruise control, adjustable steering column, headlamp intensity control. It even has a little overhead compartment for your sunglasses!! :-) It comes with an Owner`s Manual AND a Haynes service manual. Two sets of keys. Bodywork in excellent condition, Minor scratches, No rust anywhere. Nice Dark Green metallic colour. And the front door hinges have been replaced with new manufacturers heavy duty hinges. All good tyres, inc spare. It has a factory fitted tow hook with electrics. Very Low mileage for year - I`ve only done 1590 in it. The engine is in tip top condition. It uses no oil or water. Auto gears work perfectly. Despite being a four litre it is actually quite good on fuel, especially if you drive sensibly like me. Recently did 350 miles in Wales and got average of 27 MPG, and that included some steep hills! Starts first time, every time (unless you forget to toggle the immobiliser! - A Great anti-theft device.) It`s a really comfortable (and easy) drive, especially as you can adjust the seats in umpteen positions for your personal comfort. There`s loads of room in the back, it comfortably seats five, and with the back seats down you can sleep in the back, which I did recently on a holiday trip. Very comfy. Plus the interior is very clean and tidy - and smells nice too! The only bad (?) bit is that the front prop-shaft was removed (by previous owner) to reduce fuel consumption. Therefore it currently isn`t a four wheel drive, only a two wheel drive. But you can get one cheaply on ebay - or elsewhere - for £10 - £20 and it`s a simple job to fit it. I`ve never bothered because I don`t need 4x4 capacity and I quite like saving on fuel! Any test welcome. It requires a new hand mobiliser as I dropped it and currently working but will need a new one or just disable the mobiliser. The passenger side rear window is taped up as shown in photo, I bought it like this and has never been a problem. This jeep currently runs on 2 wheel drive, the shaft is in the boot if you would like to convert it back to 4 wheel. This creates a bump if you go over 50/60 in the gears, I`ve had it looked at and not much to do. the wifes come to that, it was only bought to drag our trailer down to Cornwall and back a few times last year for camping holidays. As it`s our third car and spends most of the time sat on the drive, it didn`t get put in for a new MOT or TAX when it ran out in Feb... due mainly to it not getting used much and also as the back box on the exhaust having a hole in it. So, as i didn`t need it this year for dragging my trailer (we used a works van) and as we are going abroad next year I dont see the need to keep it any more. A shame as it`s a great car to drive and very comfortable with all the toys you would expect from a top of the range Yank 4x4. Good points... Well, as i said it`s a great drive and with the 4lt engine it could drag your house down the road for you. It`s got all the usual leather, electrics, ice cold air con, full time 4x4 and tow bar, the condition inside and out is very good for a truck of its age with no nasty noises. Bad bits... not much! Blown back box, but having said that you can pick them up on here new for about £30 and are clamp fit so no big job to fit. As with any grand cherokee of this age, the heated seats dont heat. Tyres are a bit close to the limit so may need replacing for an MOT. Electric ariel doesnt go up but still picks up radio stations without any problem. its age.It is a 2002, 5 door diesel model with all the luxuries, full black leather interior, heated front seats & electric powered front seats, electric mirrors, climate control, cruise control. It is optional 2 or 4 wheel drive with power steering, 141 bhp & about 34 miles to the gallon(we are in the country, so slightly less in towns). Interior & exterior are both in good clean condition with minor wear that you would expect of an 8 year old car. The engine is in faultless condition & runs great every day and is currently sitting at just above 74,000 miles but this will rise slightly before the end of the auction as it is still in daily use. The tyres are about half way through their lifespan and the spare is brand new. It is mot`d & taxed until the end of November. It also has a great sound system,(cd, radio & tape...if you still have them!) to keep you going on longer journeys. It has a towbar on the back which we only ever used for our small trailer to take hedge clippings to our local recycling centre. This is a lovely, comfortable family car & very versatile too with lots of space & luxury. We are a non smoking family & our dog was only ever allowed in our other car as this one has no dog guard.
